Major factors include: Companies' need to quickly
access and analyze data; the explosive growth of
the Internet and e-Business; more flexible and
user-friendly computer applications; plus lower
hardware and software prices allowing more
companies to implement or upgrade their
technology.
For workers already in or considering a computer
career, this continues to be good news. However,
despite the expected growth, simply showing
up will not guarantee success. The marketplace
will continue to get more competitive.
It is important for workers to identify their
career objectives, and make sure that they have the
credentials needed to achieve their goals.
For some, that might mean getting or finishing a
degree. For others, specialized tech certifications
could make sense. And for those in or thinking
about management, specialized certifications or
advanced training might be best.
The bottom line? Workers pursuing a career in
computers should feel good about the prospects for
growth in general. Workers who posses the
credentials needed to help them achieve their
career goals should feel even better.
