Medical Insurance
Billing & Coding Certification
Training
Are you looking for a career change that
will provide a good salary and steady
work? Would you be willing to learn some
new technical terms to create that
opportunity for yourself? If so, you might
be a perfect fit for a career as a medical
insurance billing and coding
specialist.
Medical insurance billing and coding
specialists have a unique job. Because
much of America's health tab is paid
through insurance companies, the companies
themselves have to have a system that
understands the general prices for
different medical procedures. This system
maintains average price ranges for
different diagnosis related groups, or
DRGs. Medical Insurance Billing and Coding
specialists are required to know which
treatments fit into which DRG, and be able
to label the treatment appropriately so
that payment can take place.
Qualifications for Entry
This system requires that those assigning
codes to certain treatments understand the
medical terminology used to classify those
treatments. There are courses and degree
programs that you can take that will
prepare for this job. Many of these
programs are offered online through
distance learning institutions. This makes
is easier for those already in the job
market to find the time to study and get
their schoolwork done.
