Project Management
Certification Training Programs
Have you worked in the trenches long enough
as an analyst, associate, technician, or
other entry-level position? Do you feel
you've learned enough to move up to the
next level? Are you highly organized,
results-focused, and a good negotiator?
Would you be comfortable directing the
work of others, including those over whom
you do not have direct authority? If you
answered yes to all of these questions, it
is probably time that you start taking
steps to become a project manager. Project
managers coordinate the the tasks,
resources, and requirements of projects in
order to keep the initiative on time and
on budget. Project management occurs in
many different industry sectors, and
project management skills can be
successfully transferred into different
fields. Industries hiring the largest
number of project managers are high
technology, construction, defense, and
architecture.
Qualifications for Entry
Project managers are often promoted from
within the ranks of a company, but another
proven route to project management is more
academic. Project managers are often hired
from a pool of those who have graduated
from reputable programs, as certification
is becoming increasingly necessary in
order to land the choicest positions. If
you are a self-taught project manager, as
so many are, you should seriously consider
obtaining certification or, better yet, a
diploma or associate's degree in project
management.
